LIFE QUESTIONS
March 2, 2009

What is the real temperature? My wall says its 30*. Dish WC says 16* outside, 23mph wind NW, 232 wind chill index~ or -3*. I thought it was colder.

So, I went down stairs to see how my mother was doing. She was up sitting in her chair, and I asked her if she was cold. I asked her why she was up? Its 3:23.

She said, that she was not cold, and said , is that the time. I said yes, go back to bed. She said, I want to get something to eat first. I said, go to bed, I’m cold and want to go back to sleep.

It was not too cold. What woke me up? Maybe I heard her? My shoulder was sore, my shirt was a little damp, and my stomach a little upset. This could be symptoms of kidney upset too.

I put some Pain Rub on my shoulder, took an anti-acid, and drank half a glass of my kidney stone dissolve tonic, and tried to go back to sleep.

It was still a little cold in my room; so I turned my space heater on, and saw that a movie just started on the TV. It was called “Cop Land” and I watched it for quite a while and could not figure what it was all about, people dieing all over the place. I had to watch it till the end to find all about the story.

Maybe that is how with some things in life! We need for time to sort it all out.

FAITH HEALING
Faith Healing

Faith Healing

 - In God's Hands
You are here: God >> Faith Healing

Faith Healing – The Need
When people are faced with a serious or debilitating illness, they often consider supernatural healing or faith healing as the final option. Our expectations for divine healing are often placed in a variety of sources which present themselves as the only hope for a miraculous recovery. Some individuals will pursue the avenue of faith healers or those professing to have an “ability to heal.” Objects such as handkerchiefs, religious icons, or pilgrimages to holy sites are said to offer hope to those in desperate circumstances.

When faced with intense suffering, we may even be tempted to doubt the character of God. “Why is my pain unending and my wound grievous and incurable? Will you be to me like a deceptive brook, like a spring that fails?” (Jeremiah 15:18).

Others try to encourage us by confirming that “all things work together for good to those who love God” (Romans 8:28). Yet our suffering presents our greatest challenge to our faith. At some point we may even blame God for allowing our pain to continue. Or we may ask ourselves, “How much more faith do I need to be healed?”

Faith Healing – The Lesson
Our physical and emotional suffering is magnified when we fail to see any possible good resulting from our sickness. When we concentrate on what God can do through our illness, it keep us focused on God, instead of our difficult circumstances. Shortly after I first met Melanie, she invited me to dinner. Melanie has diabetes which has affected her eyesight and her mobility. Over our 10-year friendship, I’ve watched her bring comfort to others with her baskets, filled with their customized contents. “I used to be able to get these done in one or two days, but I guess I’m slowing down a little,” she says with a twinkle in her eye. “God never rushes anything so I’ve learned to work at His pace.” There are days when I know Melanie’s swollen limbs hurt and she pauses for a moment, leaning against a pew to catch her breath. It would be easy for her to pick a seat near the back of the church. But then she’ll see a visitor or a person who needs an encouraging word and off she goes to plant herself next to them.

Like Jesus, Melanie loves reaching out to people. Both are well acquainted with pain and suffering. She was injured in two separate car accidents in which five of her seven siblings were killed. Melanie understands emotional and physical pain that doesn’t dissipate. Yet she reminds me, “It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn [God’s] decrees” (Psalm 119:71). Melanie treats each day as a learning process and her afflictions as her greatest teacher.

Faith Healing – The End Result
Healing is an act of unmerited mercy from a sovereign God. We do not put faith in faith itself (or men or objects), but rather in the grace and mercy of Jahveh-Ropheka, “God the Healer.” There is no doubt that Jesus cares deeply for us -- He suffered and died so that we could live forever in God’s love. His healing doesn’t follow a process that would seem logical to us. Jesus healed blind eyes by applying mud, made from “divine spittle” (John 9:6–7)! Jesus was often unconventional, raising a dead widow’s son out of compassion, not because of her faith (Luke 7:13). Faith is not something we need to “conjure up” in order to be healed. God is ultimately in control of healing. Whatever the outcome, God is always with those who suffer and He understands their every pain and need. The cross reminds us that God always cares. God is offering us a wholeness that is even more perfect than physical or emotional healing. Perfect health is waiting for us in the resurrection. “Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all” (2 Corinthians 4:16–17).

Over 2,000 Hits A Month!
My site got its 8000th hit yesterday that was unique. I often wonder about counters though; because anyone can log on and off my site and the counter will count the hit, the uniqueness, that includes: the address, the browser, the location, the pages, the time, and many other things.

Every site does this. Some sites are data miners. They look deeper and watch your key strokes and reaction time. They put the user into a category, and attempt to use this information for their benefit. I noticed that one company called castle media is called a bad site because of its data mining. It leaves a cookie on the user’s computer. It is difficult to remove some of these data miners. Many programs promise to help you; but few can help with every problem that users face when they use their computer.

Terrorists keep attacking a free society; because they want to control everyone. Three of  them were responsible for killing over two hundred million human beings that even did not have a computer. These are some of the difficulties computer users face. For every problem there is a solution. It does not matter how much the terrorist attacks. There will always be someone nice who will stand up against evil.

What ever your problem there is a solution that you can find on the Internet. Some problems take more time to solve than others. The first step to solving a problem is noticing that there is a problem. When your computer works great everything seams wonderful. When it is having problems everything seams gloomy.

After the computer user sees that his computer is having a problem, he has to be able to describe the problem before he can fix it. If anyone attempts to solve a problem, he has to use his mind to reason. In some cases the user can just use another computer that is not broken. He can use another operation system, or another browser, or another: media player, music player, recorder, mouse, cam, printer, scanner, or what ever he needs to keep his computer life alive.

Google counts over 27 million places on the Internet that can help you solve computer problems. Sometimes a person might need his computer to solve other problems. Here is where he needs a backup plan. Here is where he needs a friend to help. Without friendships, the world would be a horrible place. Fortunate for some that have a computer club to go to for help. Most users do not know about user groups. I wonder how many people around here know about PACC!

Do you know that you can ask members just about anything to help you solve your problems no matter what they might be? If anyone belongs to a group he is also sharing himself with others of the group no only in reasoning, but also completely. Although members have many different computer interests, members have many other life interests that are beyond the club’s interests; but not beyond the members’ interests.

My site Holistics deals with every good aspect of being alive. Some days it gets over double, or multiple more use than others.  At one time the counters went wild, perhaps my site was being attacked. I do not know. At one time everything was well indexed by Google, now it is difficult to find links, or articles that were written several years ago.

The problem becomes more clear when you see that search engine results and counters are not too accurate. When you enter a search question, the best answers are usually on top of the list; but you have to start going through the list to see what answer looks like the best before you find the best answer that it found!

There are countless types of groups that we share in common. Just to name the types of groups would take some thought, but they go well beyond the top ten that you might have heard someone list like: social, economic, political, religious, cultural, biological, historical, artistic, spiritual, or psychological group.

The connections of interests, or the groups we belong to are astronomical. We share the things we hear, the shows we have seen, the books we have read, and every aspect of our life; whether we know it or not.

The teacher says that we all share our breath, our molecules, our organs, our energy, our thoughts, and the same energy, matter, and light of the universe. That is all so amazing that we can share how wonderful the world is and how wonderful it can be!

Clean Water Does Not Have

chlorine water supplyChlorine: Added to our city municipal water, chlorine has been shown to negatively affect digestion and intestinal flora. Chlorinated water also contains organochlorides which are carcinogenic and are stored in fatty tissues of the body. These can cause mutations as well as certain cancers.

Fluoride: It's really a mystery why the surplus of this industrial waste product has made it into our water systems. Studies have show that over 0.6 parts per million of fluoride can start to show chromisomal damage in the cell. Many water municiplaities have over that amount. By the way... many dentists have stopped using fluoride for teeth quietly, while our cities still put in in our water.

pesticides and herbicidesPesticides: If you have well water, you may be safe from chlorine and fluoride, but you're not safe from pesticide run off and polution. Pesticides, since their nature is to kill bugs, are damaging to our own cells and can effect your hormones, your nerves, and your immune system.

Herbicides: Just like pesticides, these can leak into your water supply (city and well) and cause havoc with the immune system and other functions of the body.

factory industrial waste waterIndustrial Wastes: PCBs (Polychlorinated biphenyls), mercury, arsenic and other industrial wastes have found their way into our water supply. 25 different US states have reported unacceptable arsenic levels in their waters to the US Environmental Protection Agency. Build up of PCBs and mercury and other wastes can be extremely toxic.

Plastic Residues: Bottled water and other containers have been shown to leach BPAs (Bisphenol A) and other chemicals that are proving to be harmful to our health. BPA is a known endocrine disruptor, which means it can effect hormone production.

E=MC*2 ENERGY Chi

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What is Chigong (qigong?

Chigong (qigong) is a word of combining chi and gong. chi means the vital energy, the life force. gong means art, discipline, manipulation, study, exercises. So chigong can be translated into English as 'the manipulation of vital energy'.

Q: Can you explain the chi a little more?

Chi is a basic substance in our body and in the Universe. If there is chi, there is life. If there were no chi, there were no life. If you have strong chi in your body, you are in good health condition, and you are not likely to develop health problems. If your chi is weak, you will catch illness easily. Chi can be seen, can be sensed and can be tested, but not every one can do it. you need to practice chigong to get the ability of sensing and seeing the chi.

Q: What does chi look like if you can see it?

Chi has different colors. It can be grey, white, green, yellow, red and purple. The ill chi is murky grey. The healthy chi is colorful. The chi with purple color is the best.

Q: Can a person practice Universal Chigong along with other forms of Chigong or martial arts?

Yes

Q: If the Universal Chigong techniques are borrowed from Taoist and Buddist Chigong, will practicing Universal Chigong conflict with my religious beliefs?

No. Universal Chigong is just healing art, not any religion, even though we selected the exercises from different religious group.

Q: Does metallic jewelery impede the flow of Chi in the > body? Body piercings? Tatoo's?

Yes. The best metal is gold and then silver, copper. Body piercings and Tatoo's will effect the flow of chi to some extent.

Q: Can I practice too much Chigong?

No, not if you do in the right way.

Q: What is it like when you sense the chi?

When you get an unusual feeling, that is chi. It is quite different from people to people. But generally speeking, when you feel warm, or hot, it is healing chi. If you feel cold, itching, tingling, pain, that is ill chi or negative chi.

Q: There are words of chigong and qigong, are they different or same?

They are the same thing. Sometimes it is also called "chi kung" or "ki kung". If we directly use Chinese "pinyin", it should be Qigong. We use the word of chigong because in the book "Healing and the Mind", Bill Moyers uses Chigong. So we think chigong is widely accepted in the Western World, especially in North America.

Q: Can an experienced Chigong practicioner "steal" my chi?

I don't think so. When you learn our program, you will find out yourself.

Q: Can a person use Chigong to heal others without knowing the precise layout of the meridians and acupuncture points?

Yes. It is not necessary to know the precise location of the maridians and acupuncture points to heal people.

Q: What are some COMMON ailments that are frequently treated with Chigong?

Stomach disorder, back pain, magrain pain, insomnia, diabets, stress, fatigue, and so on.

Q: In some books, chigong is translated as Breath Work, how does it come?

This is because "chi" has other two meanings: breath and air. In chigong, we do use a lot of breath work. But not all chigong forms involves special breathing techniques. Chigong is also described as slow motion dance, because some chigong forms do look like slow motion dance. But many chigong styles do not have any body movement . So these two sayings are just partly right.

Q: How long has been chigong developed?

It is hard to say exactly when chigong began to be developed. It is said that Chigong can be traced back to five thousand years ago. But in the ancient time, it was not called chigong or qigong. When people began to manipulate their vital energy, it is the beginning of chigong. Literally, chigong can be traced back to about three thousand years ago.

Q: How many chigong styles are there?

There are millions. From the origin of chigong, there are five Chigong schools. The traditional five chigong schools are The Tao's chigong, which is the essence of Chinese chigong; The Buddha chigong, which originated from India; the Confucius chigong, which was developed from Confucianism; Medical chigong, which was developed in medical practice and Martial art ,which aims at strengthening the body muscles and fighting ability. In the early stage of chigong development, these five schools of chigong had their own distinguishing feathers from each other. but lately, these five schools learned from each other and developed many new combination forms. For example, the idea of yin and yang, five elements are originally from Taoism, but they are often used by all other schools.

Q: Do different chigong styles have the save effect?

Different chigong styles have different effects. There are a great varieties of chigong forms which are so different that sometime you can not believe they are all called chigong. Some forms of chigong are more efficient, more powerful than others. Different forms may have different functions or different efficiency, lead to different results. In another word, a certain chigong style is suitable for a certain type of people. Some styles are suitable for more people but some styles just suit a small group of people.

Q: Is chigong dangerous?

Chigong is as safe as, or even safer than any other exercises. if you get a right guidance or direction. chigong as exercises, which involve mind focus, breathing technique and body movements can bring you a peaceful mind and relaxed body. chigong as an education can bring you a joyful life style. but if you chose a wrong teacher or follow a wrong direction, it may cause you a little trouble sometimes. Choosing a right chigong master to learn a good chigong form is the first and important step to your chigong world.

Q: Can everybody benefit from chigong?

Generally speaking, yes, if one has an open mind, positive attitude and take it seriously. But some people can benefit from chigong more than others due to their sensitivities to chi. Someone are more sensitive to chi than others. Those who are sensitive(these people are usually more likely to develop health problems) can get more benefit than those who are not sensitive.

Q: Is chigong always helpful for any kind of health program?

Chigong is good for all kind of health problem, including cancer. There are a few chigong sanitarium in China focusing on cancer recovery and have been running successfully. I have seen a report in 'San Francisco Chronicle' about a man with aids getting help from Chigong and is still living well over ten years in San Francisco. But it is still on trial for such health problems. The common problems which can easily get help from chigong include: insomnia, migraine pain, back pain, high blood pressure, stomach problems, diabetes, chronic fatigue and so on.

Q: What is the main difference of Universal Chigong from other styles?

Universal Chigong selectes the best parts from all the five chigong schools described above and simplify them into the forms which can be accepted and practiced by all kinds of people. There are no unnecessary forms which take us a long time to learn to perform in Universal Chigong. In summery, the Universal Chigong can be described as being simple, easy to learn, efficient and no wrong.

Q: What is the difference between chigong and Taiji (Tai Chi)?

In abroad sense, Taiji is a form of chigong. Taiji is indeed very good healing art. If the question is: what is the difference between Taiji and Universal Chigong, I would like to say that Universal chigong is much more easier and more powerful. For example, it will take years for one without any previous experience of chi to feel chi flowing in her or his body. But in our Universal Chigong program, about 90% participants, no matter they have previous experience or not, can feel chi flow in their bodies in a few hours or less than 20 hours.

Health is Easy

"You're not sick; you're thirsty. Don't treat thirst with medication."
Dr. F. Batmanghelidj

You are not just what you eat; you are what you drink.

This is why water is so important to your health.

Dr B believes that water is for health and for healing your body. This is his invaluable public health message.

"We can all change the way we drink – by drinking pure, natural water that is good for our health, our pocket book, and our environment."

No miracles. Just common sense backed by Dr. F. Batmaghelidj’s years of research and investigation into why water works so well in keeping us healthy and pain free. It can even cure illness in some people who get sick.

  1. Water is the basis of all life and that includes your body.
  2. Your muscles that moves you body are 75% water.
  3. Your blood that transport nutrients is 82% water.
  4. Your lungs that provide your oxygen are 90% water.
  5. Your brain that is the control center of your body is 76% water.
  6. Even your bones are 25% water.

Our health is truly dependent on the quality and quantity of the water we drink.

Dr. B's pioneering work shows that Unintentional Chronic Dehydration (UCD) contributes and even produces pain and many degenerative diseases that can be prevented and treated by increasing water intake on a regular basis.

If you are committed to a healthy lifestyle, make drinking enough natural water a habit in you life. It won't take long for you to feel the benefit.

It is a free investment for your long-term health.

The Wonders of Water: Amazing Secrets for Health and Wellness

Water prevents and helps to cure heartburn.

Heartburn is a signal of water shortage in the upper part of the gastrointestinal tract. It is a major thirst signal of the human body.

The use of antacids or tablet medications in the treatment of this pain does not correct dehydration, and the body continues to suffer as a result of its water shortage.

Not recognizing heartburn as a sign of dehydration and treating it with antacids and pill medications will, in time, produce inflammation of the stomach and duodenum, hiatal hernia, ulceration, and eventually cancers in the gastrointestinal tract, including the liver and pancreas.

Water prevents and helps to cure arthritis.

Rheumatoid joint pain - arthritis - is a signal of water shortage in the painful joint. It can affect the young as well as the old.

The use of pain-killers does not cure the problem, but exposes the person to further damage from pain medications.

Intake of water and small amounts of salt will cure this problem.

Water prevents and helps to cure back pain.

Low back pain and ankylosing arthritis of the spine are signs of water shortage in the spinal column and discs.

The water cushions that support the weight of the body.

These conditions should be treated with increased water intake - not a commercial treatment, but a very effective one.

Not recognizing arthritis and low back pain as signs of dehydration in the joint cavities and treating them with pain-killers, manipulation, acupuncture, and eventually surgery will, in time, produce osteoarthritis.

When the cartilage cells in the joints have eventually all died.

It will produce deformity of the spine. It will produce crippling deformities of the limbs. Pain medications have their own life-threatening complications.

Water prevents and helps to cure angina.

Heart pain - angina - is a sign of water shortage in the heart/lung axis.

It should be treated with increased water intake until the patient is free of pain and independent of medications.

Medical supervision is prudent. However, increased water intake is angina's cure.

Water prevents and helps to cure migraines.

Migraine headache is a sign of water need by the brain and the eyes.

It will totally clear up if dehydration is prevented from establishing in the body.

The type of dehydration that causes migraine might eventually cause inflammation of the back of the eye and possibly loss of eye sight.

Water prevents and helps to cure colitis.

Colitis pain is a signal of water shortage in the large gut.

It is associated with constipation because the large intestine constricts to squeeze the last drop of water from the excrements - thus the lack of water lubrication.

Not recognizing colitis pain as a sign of dehydration will cause persistent constipation.

Later in life, it will cause fecal impacting: it can cause diverticulitis, hemorrhoids and polyps, and appreciably increases the possibility of developing cancer of the colon and rectum.

Water and salt prevent and helps to cure asthma.

Asthma, which also affects 14 million children and kills several thousand of them every year.

It is a complication of dehydration in the body.

It is caused by the drought management programs of the body.

In asthma free passage of air is obstructed so that water does not leave the body in the form of vapor - the winter steam.

Increased water intake will prevent asthma attacks. Asthmatics need also to take more salt to break the mucus plugs in the lungs that obstruct the free flow of air in and out of the air sacs.

Not recognizing asthma as the indicator of dehydration in the body of a growing child not only will sentence many thousands of children to die every year.

But it will permit irreversible genetic damage to establish in the remaining 14 million asthmatic children.

Water prevents and helps to cure high blood pressure.

Hypertension is a state of adaptation of the body to a generalized drought, when there is not enough water to fill all the blood vessels that diffuse water into vital cells.

As part of the mechanism of reverse osmosis, when water from the blood serum is filtered and injected into important cells through minute holes in their membranes, extra pressure is needed for the "injection process."

Just as we inject I.V. "water" in hospitals, so the body injects water into tens of trillions of cells all at the same time.

Water and some salt intake will bring blood pressure back to normal!

Not recognizing hypertension as one of the major indicators of dehydration in the human body, and treating it with diuretics that further dehydrate the body will, in time, cause blockage by cholesterol of the heart arteries and the arteries that go to the brain.

It will cause heart attacks and small or massive strokes that paralyze.

It will eventually cause kidney disease.

It will cause brain damage and neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease.

Water prevents and helps to cure early adult-onset diabetes.

Adult-onset diabetes is another adaptive state to severe dehydration of the human body.

To have adequate water in circulation and for the brain's priority water needs, the release of insulin is inhibited to prevent insulin from pushing water into all body cells.

In diabetes, only some cells get survival rations of water.

Water and some salt will reverse adult-onset diabetes in its early stages.

Not recognizing adult-onset diabetes as a complication of dehydration will, in time, cause massive damage to the blood vessels all over the body.

It will cause eventual loss of the toes, feet and legs from gangrene.

It will cause eye damage, even blindness.

Water lowers blood cholesterol.

High cholesterol levels are an indicator of early drought management by the body.

Cholesterol is a clay-like material that is poured in the gaps of some cell membranes to safeguard them against losing their vital water content to the osmotically more powerful blood circulating in their vicinity.

Cholesterol, apart from being used to manufacture nerve cell membranes and hormones, is also used as a "shield" against water taxation of other vital cells that would normally exchange water through their cell membranes.

Water is extremely vitally important

Google for these references:

For millions of families in Japan, Korea, Australia and North America, alkaline water is their daily drink. Why are water ionizers so popular? Because they restore to your tap water the same life-giving properties as the mountain water that has kept the Hunza people the longest-lived on the planet: In nature, as streams plunge over rocks, water picks up ionized minerals (electrolytes). Until the advent of large water systems, many people drank naturally ionized water.

RESEARCH OR SEARCHING THE WEB

RESEARCH OR SEARCHING THE WEB

There are millions of Internet sites that have good information about most subjects; but do you want just good information, or the best most reliable, and latest information that science has to offer!

There are several types of information. The best is first hand information which is from the best authority on the subject.

This is someone who has studied all the literature on the subject, and who has the best grasp of the subject and who is recommended by the people who know the subject material.

With empirical knowledge, the best knowledge is obtained from the best eye witness at a scene or location.

It is also the best evidence that the best investigators, with the best instruments can discover.

Usually you can find out the most about a subject by reading the thickest book on the subject. The thickest book is usually the easiest to read. It is also usually the best documented; because it has been written by the authority on the subject.

Researching the subject Headache

If you are interested in learning about headaches; you probably also want to know what causes them and what you need to do to cure them.

Some sites will give you hundreds of articles on the subject that just about all say the same thing.

Others might tell you about what researchers have discovered and what they have published in professional journals.

There are sites that allow everyone to contribute to the subject knowledge, and professional sites that have extensive databases, and research material that they let users access.

A Google search of "Headache" will give you this site: http://health.discovery .com/centers/headaches/pmg/p09.html along with a list of 31.9 million other addresses.

If you search for "Headache triggers," you might come up with a list of about 280 thousand addresses. In that way, you can narrow down your search and discover one of the most important aspects on the subject.

The Wiki "wikiHow" http://www.wikihow.com/Cure-a-Headache gives you a lot of information. veryone can contribuate. The public can be one of the best resources that we have, and editors can make their site the best it can be.

Here is what the first site above gives on the first page.

"Identifying What Triggers Your Headache Is Key to Treatment"

By Rita Mullin

Common headache triggers vary depending on the type of headache and on the individual. A sound or smell that serves as a migraine headache trigger in one person, for example, may have no effect at all on another.

Identifying your common headache triggers can help you avoid headaches or learn to cope with them more effectively. Here are some common headache triggers for the major headache types:

Stress and Headaches
Stress is a trigger for most headaches, says Dr. Jaime Lopez, assistant professor of neurology and neurosurgery at Stanford University School of Medicine and director of the Intraoperative Neurophysiologic Monitoring Program at Stanford University Medical Center. Stress can also lead to more serious migraine headaches.

Tension-type headaches result when muscles in the neck shoulders and head tense up, limiting blood flow to the area and building up waste products in the tissues. The end result: pain.

Sleep Disorders and Headaches
Sleep disorders are closely linked with tension, migraine and cluster headaches. Fatigue may cause contractions in the head and neck muscles of tension-type headache sufferers.

Morning headaches or headaches that occur during the night may be related to such underlying sleep disorders as sleep apnea, in which people stop breathing for extended periods, or insomnia.

Changes in sleep patterns — getting too much or too little — can trigger migraines in some people.

Treatment of migraine often includes regular sleep patterns — going to sleep and arising each day at the same time.

Smoking and Headaches
Smoking increases the risk of tension headaches and is a trigger for some migraine sufferers. Many doctors recommend quitting smoking to reduce the risk of headaches.

However, when you look further you will see that it contains a  "Complete Headache Guide." Here is what that first page looks like.

How to Cure a Headache
Don't be a prisoner to your headache
Don't be a prisoner to your headache

There's a lot we don't know about headaches, but this much we know for sure: nobody wants them, and just about everybody gets them. There are several different types of headaches, but this article deals specifically with tension or tension-type headaches, which are by far the most common kind. As with other headache types, the exact cause of tension headaches is not known. Fortunately, though, there are a number of things you can do to get rid of a tension headache.
[edit] Steps

   1.
Contrary to popular belief, Aspirin may not be the best way to get rid of your headache.
Contrary to popular belief, Aspirin may not be the best way to get rid of your headache.
Think twice before taking a painkiller. Over-the-counter (OTC) painkillers (analgesics), such as frequent headaches, even before a headache--there are two major reasons not to do so.
          * Rebound headaches can occur in people who take these medications or others more than 2 or 3 times per week, especially if the person takes the maximum recommended dose (or more) each time they take the drug. As the body develops a tolerance to the medication, headaches begin to worsen and become more frequent, resulting in a cycle of increasing dosages and more frequent medication use.
          * All drugs, including these commonly used OTC medications, have potential side effects, and frequently taking these drugs increases the risk of sometimes serious or life-threatening side effects. Some of these side effects, such as Reyes Syndrome, a potentially fatal disorder which occurs in children who have taken aspirin, can occur after just one dose. Others, such as liver damage from acetaminophen, may develop over long periods of time.
   2. Identify the cause of the headache. Many tension headaches are brought about by some trigger. Headache triggers vary from person to person and even from headache to headache, but common triggers include stress, depression, hunger, dehydration, eye strain (i.e. staring at your computer for a long time), tobacco smoke, alcohol, and certain foods. You can find more exhaustive lists of potential triggers online, but really you only need to know what triggered your headache, and you can often guess this pretty easily. If you get frequent headaches, consider keeping a headache diary to help you identify potential triggers so that you can avoid them.
   3. Remove yourself from the trigger. If you think you know what triggered your headache or, alternately, what's aggravating it, avoid that thing. If it's stress, for example, remove yourself from the stressful situation and try to relax. If the sun's bright light is aggravating your headache, go inside or put on some sunglasses. You can't get away from some triggers, such as a food that you already ate, but you can avoid them in the future.
   4. Relax. Even if your headache isn't necessarily caused by stress, relaxing can help speed up your recovery. Meditate, do some yoga, or try any number of relaxation techniques.
   5. Take a nap. If you can manage to get to sleep, your headache will often be gone when you wake up, and you at least won't have to deal with the pain while you're sleeping. Even just lying down and resting your eyes may be helpful.
   6. Drink some water. Dehydration is a common cause of headaches, and even if you don't feel thirsty, you may well benefit from a glass or two of water.
   7. Drink a cup of coffee. High doses of caffeine can trigger headaches, but lower doses can help relieve them. If taken in conjunction with a painkiller, caffeine can also speed up the medicine's effect, and as a result some painkillers include caffeine. If you're a heavy caffeine or soda drinker, you may experience headaches as part of caffeine withdrawal. A jolt of caffeine will usually help, but in the long run, it's best to break your addiction.
   8. Massage your temples, neck, and face. Scientists used to think that tension in the neck, shoulders, and facial muscles caused tension headaches, but this theory has more recently been called into question. That said, muscle tension and circulation issues may contribute to the headaches, and many people find relief through varying massage methods. Simply applying a little pressure to the most painful area or rubbing your head in that vicinity will sometimes provide temporary relief. Massaging--or having someone else massage--your jaw, neck, and shoulders may cause your headache to disappear, as may applying pressure to the back of your neck with three fingers on each side.
   9. Try some simple reflexology. Reflexology is touted as a treatment for all sorts of ailments, and clinical studies seem to confirm its effectiveness for some, including headaches. Use the thumb and index finger of one hand to apply pressure to the fleshy area between the thumb and index finger of the other hand. Hold this for a minute or two. This doesn't seem to work for everyone, but for some people, this provides immediate relief. The relief may be temporary, or you may get rid of your headache entirely.
  10. Use some ice or heat. Icing the affected area is known to help many migraine sufferers, and some people find it effective for tension headaches, though the pain in tension headaches is usually spread out more than it is in migraines. Applying an ice pack to the back of your neck may also help. Conversely, some people swear by a hot pad placed on one of these areas, and others find a hot shower works wonders.
  11. Consult your doctor or chiropractor if you get frequent, long-lasting, or very severe headaches. Most tension headaches cause mild to moderate pain and go away on their own fairly quickly, even in the absence of treatment. These are known as episodic tension headaches. Chronic tension headaches, on the other hand, can last for days, weeks, or even longer. These often require special treatment and, sometimes, prescription medications. Other types of headaches, including migraine headaches and cluster headaches, can also be longer-lasting and can cause excruciating pain. Finally, it's important to note that frequent or severe headaches may be symptoms of another illness or disorder. If you experience frequent or severe headaches, or headaches that are accompanied by other symptoms, such as nausea, vision problems, or dizziness, talk to your doctor to get an accurate diagnosis and effective treatments.

[edit] Tips

    * If you just get an occasional tension headache, don't be afraid to take a painkiller (unless your doctor tells you otherwise), as these medicines usually provide fast, reliable relief. OTC painkillers are not inherently bad; they can just become bad if you take too much of them, either all at once or over time.
    * If your headaches are frequent, regular and severe, see a Neurologist. There are some prescription medications that work for specific types of headaches (migraines and clusters).
    * Each headache is, in some ways, unique, and a treatment that works for one may not work for the next. In addition something that triggers one headache may not trigger others.
    * If you are seeking natural relief without painkillers, medication, drugs, caffeine, or chemicals, consult your chiropractor. Frequently headaches can be caused by a sublimation's of the upper cervical vertebrae in your neck. This is especially true if your headaches are recurring or lasting longer than a day.
    * You can find a ton of headache remedies on the internet or by asking people you know. Many of these are helpful for at least some people, and if they're safe, there's no reason not to try them if other steps don't work. Use common sense when considering any "home remedy." If it seems like it could cause more harm than good, don't do it without consulting your doctor first. If a treatment makes your headache worse, or if you experience other symptoms, stop the treatment and contact your doctor.
    * Chronic tension headaches can often be treated with lifestyle changes such as stress management, regular exercise, and/or dietary changes. If these regimens don't work, your doctor may prescribe preventive medication to deal with these headaches.
    * If you get a bad headache, eat a little food and watch the telly. Do something to try and forget about it for awhile. It won't be as noticeable when you remember it again.
    * Smiling can work wonders if it's just a minor headache. Smiling takes less muscles than frowning, so even if the reflex is to frown due to pain, smile it off.
    * If painkillers can't help you then consider what you have been doing, identify possible triggers and avoid them.(do this only when you have mild headaches).
    * Sometimes it helps to relieve a headache if you get some sleep, in a quiet, dark room.
    * Take a wet cloth and rub it on your temples(the side of the forehead)

[edit] Warnings

    * This article is a general guide and is not intended to replace professional medical advice.
    * Sudden, severe headaches or headaches that are accompanied by vision problems, difficulty speaking, numbness, or loss of coordination may be a sign of aneurysm, stroke, or other potentially-fatal conditions. Seek emergency medical evaluation and treatment for any unusually severe headache.
    * Follow all medication instructions, and read warning labels carefully for information on correct doses and interactions with other medications or medical conditions.

[edit] Things You'll Need

    * A headache
    * Knuckles
    * A quiet space
    * Aspirin or ibuprofen w/water.
    * Coffee/soda if the headache is caffeine related.
    * A doctor, if things get too tough
    * For a natural approach, a Chiropractor or Osteopathic doctor.
